ENGR 44 Lab 5 Shubo C

Doing calculation to look for R(th)
Found out R(th) = 66 ohm
Set up the circuit to look for V(th)

Found out V(th) =9.07v

Found out ideal V(th) = 8.35v

Really close to 9.07v, and the dofference is less than 4%.

To measure the reisistances.

Measured data.
Mearsured data.

Conclusion: this lab is not hard, but it is useful to practise the skill to find the thevenen Voltage and Resistance. Doing the calculation is messy, but after 2 times, we got the value data.

ENGR44 Shubo Chen Lab 1

Measuring the resistance

this is the concept circuit we are trying to build next.

Step 6: Connecting the battery, fixed resistance, and variable resistance box. Measuring the current and the voltage of the fixed resistor.

Find the power of the load and power of the cable

find the efficiency

find the time of discharge

calculate the power capability of the resistor box, and then compare with the value of using.

find the max distance of single road when 0.3451 ohm/m

E:    find the longest length when AWG #28, which is 0.0764 ohm/m, since single road, divide by 2.

F:   Find the minimum cable gauge,  we found 0.02, so the minimum would be the bigger, so it is AWG # 22

Conclusion:

This is a fun lab. We have determined the maximum permissible cable resistance. 2, the maximum distance the battery and load can be separated  using AWG# 30.   3, the distribution efficiency.  4,   the approximate time before the battery discharge.

I have learned that when break the problem down into steps. It would be much easier to do.
